Little Wing

OKay, so I know I've been out of touch... no apologies- I've been too busy. here's some work :)

This is from way back in reading week- we had to take one of our drawings from drawing week and create an 8 page narrative book. I didn't use any of my drawings, but used a photograph I took of my friend Emma's new yellow raincoat.
'Little Wing' is my second most favourite song by Hendrix and I decided to incorporate that into the narrative. I don't know how successful this is but- here you go. Also, the second last spread- the smiles don't look like smiles, I know. They look like bananas, confetti and at one point I recall someone mentioning nail clippings... ahh well, I tried.

The reason behind the limited pallet of three colours is simple: I was going to screen print it at some point and three colours are a good number to work with :)

Some fishy business

Yes, I know. It's been a while. But I've been SO BUSY! Hopefully, over the next few days, I will put up more stuff.

Until then, here's a little sketch I did over the summer of a fish eating a fish eating a fish.. Just something to keep me entertained.

Take a Look at a Book

Following the collage images from the previous day, we were to create a narrative in an eight page book, choosing one of our sins... I chose pride...

Collage project

We were given a day and a half, seven sins and the aim to create a collage outcome.
The first half day was to be used to create images of some of the seven sins.

Pride

Wrath

Some Drawings

The above are just drawings of random objects that I have. The fish is a key chain, as is the shoe and the parrot is a little wooden pendant...

Little Fish Big Fish

For the next two weeks, we have to draw, draw, draw...
Our brief involves experimenting with mark-making and exploring expressive drawing techniques.
We can basically draw anything we want I guess...

So I drew a fish

Photoshop and I are becoming friends, but it's still early days

The Labyrinth Man

For the past three weeks we have been working on a project which involves creating a mural for the wall space in our crit room...
We were given the short story "The Library Of Babel by Jorge Luis Borges "- it's interesting, go look it up :)

There's a line in the story 'A mere labyrinth of letters' so I started drawing mazes and labyrinths and many days later, came up with the above image.

The labyrinth consists of a single line, it can be traced all the way around the image- the shape ended up looking a bit like a man (maybe just in my head) so i thought it would be fun to have him falling through space. The background was done in printmaking- it's just a basic Silk-screen- love the colours...

Let me know what you guys think- any suggestions?
I might put up some sketch book work.. let's see how it goes.

(rain is supposed to stay in Spain, mainly on the plains...)

The explanation you didn't ask for

Why I haven't really put up any photos of my work yet-

That's because I don't like showing it.Heavy sigh. We'll get to that- just be happy I've put up some nice photographs of random stuff, they should keep you entertained until the real work gets here.

Anyway, good night.

(coffee is my biggest weakness)

If cameras spoke, they would say random words like these...

taken sometime about 3 weeks ago

taken same day as the one above, love the colours

if only real life was a picnic

one ameena is more than enough...

took this on a long exposure in a dark room, lit a light three times to make each image..

One Day I Will Own A Circus

~ George the Amazing Elephant ~

This is screen print i did last semester. so technically yes it's a second year piece of work. but i feel it important to give George the exposure he needs to grow as an elephant. screen printing was amazing fun- loved the whole process, may take a productive trip up there one of these days.
okay, yes i know - it's terrible. why did i even start this blog? i haven't even updated it since april. april. yes, april. i actually forgot that it existed. well, it's about to change now! third year in illustration began last week and i feel it my duty to act my age.. (dont know how long this will last, but i might as well give 'growing up' a shot)

yes, well.

sea biscuits are a soggy business...
